Ayers, a writer for Laugh Staff and Korked Bats, took a potentially awkward encounter with a dramatic New York couple at the end of their relationship and saw the opportunity to share the comedy gold with the world wide web.
With the help of the hashtag #roofbreakup, Ayers first tweet about the experience received over 400 re-tweets and over a hundred re-tweets for each post thereafter.
According to the comic, the conversation went something like this:
